Designs, and develops computer software systems, in conjunction with hardware product developments. Develops application software tools including utilities, and databases. Key player in providing field support for existing products in the field.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Writes and supports software for Flat Panel Display equipment by coding, debugging and testing of application software.
• Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
• Consults with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
• Provides extensive field support and willingness to travel for solving any problems reported.
• Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation of criterion for obtaining results.
• Consults with customer concerning maintenance of software system and factory automation customizations.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Degree (Masters preferred) in CS/EE/CE or equivalent.
• 6+ years professional experience designing, testing and optimizing software, firmware and hardware. Knowledge of precision servo motion control.
• Strong C, C++, and OOD/OOA skills.
• Strong UNIX, Solaris background.
• Xwindows, motif experience a plus.
• Image Processing knowledge a plus
